Fenceways Opens a New Central London Office: Commercial and Infrastructure Perimeter Security, Closer to the Capital's Clients

Fenceways Group Ltd has opened a new central London office, bringing our commercial and infrastructure perimeter capability closer to clients, project teams and live sites across the capital. Together with our Manchester operation, this gives us two office bases to support projects nationwide.

When it comes to perimeter security, the right solution depends on more than the fence itself. You need a design that responds to the site’s risk, works with its access and security systems, and can be installed safely and documented clearly. I have seen firsthand how early coordination can help make those requirements easier to manage. Our new London office gives clients in the capital a closer point of contact as we work through those decisions together.

A central London base for commercial and infrastructure projects

For commercial clients, facility managers, main contractors and security consultants, proximity can make project coordination more practical. A local base supports meetings, site visits and communication with teams working across London and the South East. It also gives us a point from which to coordinate with our Manchester operation on wider, multi-site programmes.

Our coverage is nationwide. The London office strengthens our presence in the capital; it does not limit projects to the surrounding area. If you are planning work across several locations, we can discuss how the programme may be coordinated between our two offices and the site teams.

Here’s why that matters: a perimeter package often needs to fit around other construction and security activities. Clear communication about access, sequencing, interfaces and handover can help reduce uncertainty for everyone involved.

Perimeter solutions shaped around your site

We support a range of domestic, commercial and infrastructure requirements. Depending on your site and specification, this can include:

  • Bespoke commercial and residential fencing and gates

  • High-security perimeter fencing and secure pedestrian or vehicle gates

  • Automated gate systems

  • Temporary perimeter works during construction

  • Rising bollards and hostile vehicle mitigation measures

  • Planned maintenance, security upgrades and emergency repairs

These systems need to work as part of the wider site, not in isolation. For example, the placement of a vehicle gate may affect traffic flow, delivery access and the operation of access control. A temporary construction fence may need to be adjusted as the work area changes. We can discuss those interfaces with your project team and relevant security specialists before installation begins.

I recommend starting with the project requirements and the site conditions rather than choosing a product first. That gives you a clearer route to a perimeter that is suitable for its purpose and practical to operate.

Working to demanding security requirements

Tier-one projects can require detailed coordination, traceable installation records and a clear understanding of the employer’s requirements. We work to the project specification and risk assessment, coordinating with the appointed security consultant and other relevant parties.

Where the project risk assessment specifies them, we can work with LPS 1175-rated products. The required rating should be selected for the project’s assessed threat and confirmed with the security consultant and design team. LPS 1175 relates to tested security products or systems; it should not be read as a general certification of an installer.

For applicable fence types, we also consider the relevant BS 1722 requirements as part of the specification and installation approach. The applicable part depends on the system being used, so it should be confirmed against the project design rather than treated as one blanket standard for every fence.

A high-security perimeter may also need to interface with:

  • PIDS (perimeter intrusion detection systems), which identify and signal potential intrusion

  • CCTV and associated monitoring arrangements

  • Access control and automated gates

  • Site lighting, emergency routes and operational procedures

  • Insurer requirements and the project’s security documentation

I always advise involving your security consultant early, particularly where product ratings, system interfaces or operational requirements need to be agreed. We can then discuss the fencing and gate package in the context of the wider design.

Directly employed teams: accountability from survey to handover

Our directly employed teams are central to our No-Subbie promise for critical installation work. For high-security projects, that supports clear accountability across the stages we deliver: survey, installation and handover.

We also provide documented installation evidence as required by the project. The details will depend on the scope and employer’s requirements, but may include records of the installed works and relevant handover information. This helps your team understand what has been delivered and provides a clearer basis for future maintenance.

Safety and operational assurance matter throughout the work. We plan installation around site rules and the agreed method of working, with HSE-led operational processes and in-house legal support contributing to corporate assurance. These processes support the project; they do not replace your own site controls or any project-specific approvals.

Temporary works, maintenance and repairs

Perimeter requirements can change during a project. Construction zones move, access arrangements evolve and permanent systems may only be ready to install in later phases. Temporary fencing can help define work areas while those changes take place, provided it is planned and maintained to suit the site.

Once a permanent perimeter is in service, planned checks and maintenance can help you identify wear, damage or operational issues. If a gate or section of fencing is damaged, an emergency repair programme can help you assess the issue and agree the next practical step. The right response depends on the damage, site conditions and security needs.

Our services page provides an overview of the fencing, gates and support we offer. You can also contact us to discuss your project.

Bespoke fencing and gates for London homes

The central London office also serves high-end residential clients across the capital’s premium neighbourhoods. If you are looking to improve privacy, security or the appearance of your property, we can discuss bespoke garden fencing, luxury gates and automated gate systems.

For a residential project, the design needs to suit the property as well as the way you use it. A discreet pedestrian gate, an automated driveway entrance or a carefully designed garden boundary can provide everyday convenience while complementing the surrounding architecture.

Where timber is specified, FSC-certified timber can be provided when required by the project. Our 10-year guarantee covers our workmanship and fixings, including post setting, line, fixings and finish; third-party components such as locks and hinges carry the manufacturer's own terms.
